Featured Speaker: Steve Monteith, Manager Transactions and Correspondences, United States Postal Service

Like many businesses, the U.S. Postal Service is experiencing tumultuous times. In this keynote networking address, Steven Monteith will discuss how the Postal Service plans to deal with those challenges and how those plans will impact your business. As Manager of Transactions and Correspondences at the Postal Service, Mr. Monteith's expertise is in First Class Mail, and he will share information about the health of the USPS business with specific emphasis on the document industry. The impact of the potential move to five-day delivery will be talked about along with new programs and services the Postal Service has lined up to enhance the value of your mail, and hence, your documents. After the keynote, there will be time to discuss the address and other issues in peer-to-peer, roundtable networking.

About Steve: Steve is a 20-year Postal Service veteran and is presently the Manager Transactions and Correspondences. In this role, he manages the entire First-Class Mail portfolio which contributes more than fifty percent of Postal Service revenue. His primary responsibility is to bolster the First-Class Mail value proposition through technology innovation and strategic pricing incentives.Steve's tenure with the Postal Service includes assignments as the Executive Director of Human Capital Enterprise System, Manager Customer Services System Support, and Manager Marketing Analysis & Support. He began his career as a management intern performing various roles in operations, finance, marketing and retail.

The Jo Warner Award is a lifetime award focused on honoring an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the form systems profession.

This year, we have a unique situation. We have, not one, but three joint winners.

The Committee of the Canadian National Standard on Forms Management (CANCGSB-6.2-2009) has recently published the approved national standard for forms management for Canada. This standard represents a significant milestone in our profession and should prove to be the single most important accomplishment for the forms management profession over the past decade. It provides structure and definition to our profession and can be applied not only in Canada. In fact, the standard can be applicable to other countries, including the US.

Three people were instrumental in getting this standard together and guiding the development process. These three people have been named as co-recipients of the Jo Warner Award. Each will receive the full award this year.

Congratulations to the three new Jo Warner Award recipients Ron Moorhead, Betty Morash and Julie Stephens.

Ron Moorhead worked for the CCSB for many years and has been in the forms profession for most of his career. He has recently retired. Ron originally came up with the concept of a forms management standard and worked to get the CGSB involved. He compiled a list of forms people and sent a questionnaire to get it started. He planned and organized the organizational meetings and guided the process through the years until his retirement. He remains involved today.

Betty (Bet) Morash, Toronto, ON, has been a BFMA member for many years. She was the original chairperson of the Committee of the Canadian National Standard on Forms Management (CANCGSB-6.2-2009) and has been very active for more than 8 years in getting this standard developed, approved and published. She continues as chairperson today, where she spends countless hours in advancing the Standard.

Bet has taught at BFMA Canadian Forms Institutes on this new standard.

Bet serves the City of London, ON as a Business Systems Analyst. She has worked in the forms management profession for more than 35 years.

Julie Stephens was the original Co-Chair of the committee and still serves in that capacity. She works closely with Bet on all committee activities and was also instrumental in guiding the standard development process to adoption. Julie is Forms Manager for the City of Mississauga, ON and has been an active BFMA member for a long time.
