How I Got Started: My management career started in retail sales. Started with footwear specialty stores and migrated to merchandising/buying and store management for a large mid-west department store. Eventually, I managed a large regional distribution and fulfillment center for the same company.

Mid-way through my career I made a change to the catalog division of a farm supply company. This included the management of catalog content and printing, customer contact office and warehouse fulfillment.

For the past 16 years I have been in the operations division of a major fraternal insurance company that has included warehousing, print management, and purchasing.

Current Professional Duties: Between the normal tactical duties of purchasing I focus on improving spend analysis, supplier relationships, and business process.

BFMA's Potential Growth: BFMA offers educational and professional training in areas that are a unique blend of technology and business processes.  Membership growth is the best way for BFMA to be valuable to existing members and to our sponsoring companies. 

Most Fun Part of BFMA: BFMA provides contact with the best people. It is energizing to meet people who share their ideas and are always looking to improve business results. These people care.

Favorite Book(s): Mostly non-fiction about a range of topics. I like authors who challenge conventional wisdom.

Personal Statement: Individuals can make a difference in their family, company, and community. Personal beliefs and actions can challenge others to imagine new ideas, change, and improve.
