How I Got Started:  I have been involved with forms since 1992. Like many others in this profession it wasn’t my primary job function as an office administrator, but someone had to do it. Typesetting forms and creating new layouts quickly became something I enjoyed.  I liked the attention to detail just because it was there and it was a personal reflection when distributing forms to our customers.

One evening a friend of mine told me about someone they knew who worked for a large forms manufacturer right here in central Ohio. There was a forms designer position available and with the experience I was building, why not apply? I was so amazed to find that there was an entire industry devoted to forms. I applied and was accepted for my first job in the forms profession in 1993.

Years went by and I gained so much knowledge in this profession. I wasn’t sure what my next step would be and I began to question the forms path I had chosen. It was at that point in 2000 that I joined the Business Forms Management Association and made my first acquaintances and friendships among its members. Since those first introductions, many personal and professional opportunities have become available that would not have been options on my former path.

Spreading the word about the value of the BFMA organization has become a personal goal of mine. I’m always looking for innovative ways to foster a greater public awareness of our association and perhaps increase our membership.

Current Professional Duties: As System Forms Administrator for Mount Carmel Hospitals, my primary goal is maintaining the forms within Health Information Management or Medical Records. The last two major tasks of mine were to create an internal Centralized Forms Repository and implement an E-forms process for our internal business functions.
As BFMA President of Chapter 40 in Columbus, I strive to provide educational opportunities for local forms professionals even if they are not BFMA members.

BFMA’s Potential Growth: "What great thing would you attempt, if you knew you could not fail?" - Robert Schuler. It is amazing when you think about it in that light, but then again what other way is there to think about it? As our members grow and succeed in their careers, so should the association. Education is power, so I encourage every member to empower themselves and those around them with forms education. Every organization utilizes forms, which is why we need more representatives from those corporations.

Most Fun Part of BFMA: We are all professionals in our own right, and have something to teach one another. It’s exciting to share that, while meeting our new members and reuniting with our BFMA family.
