How I Got Started: During a department reorganization I was assigned responsibility for Forms Administration, which was staffed with 2 positions at the time. We’ve been growing and developing the function ever since.
Current Professional Duties: My team is responsible for managing forms at Standard Insurance Company, which includes 4 companies, 2 regional offices and 42 Sales and Service offices. Since forms are required for most business initiatives we always have multiple projects underway.
BFMA’s Potential Growth: There are many people working on forms who don’t yet know about BFMA. Getting the word out to them about BFMA’s excellent programs and networking opportunities provides tremendous opportunity for growth.
Most Fun Part of BFMA: I thoroughly enjoy symposium. I appreciate the opportunity to talk directly with knowledgeable representatives of the sponsors. It’s stimulating to interact with other forms people, to learn from each other and our sponsors. I have found that presenting sessions myself is very rewarding. When you receive direct feedback that you’ve helped someone else in their job, you know you’ve made a difference. And, of course, BFMA folks know how to have a good time! I get a ton of information at this annual concentration of expertise. It’s my time to pull away from regular business activities and focus on learning and networking. I come back with a refreshed perspective and ideas to contribute to my organization.
Favorite Book(s): First Things First by Stephen R. Covey.
Passionate About: Family, travel, gardening, authenticity.
Personal Statement: The more involved I have become with BFMA, the more rewarding the experience has been. We can make a difference in our profession. “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead US anthropologist & popularizer of anthropology (1901 - 1978)
