Accessible Documents Training Course

BFMA is a Referral Partner to AccessAbility Advantage Courses.

AccessAbility Advantage is a joint venture between March of Dimes Canada and Quadrangle Architects Limited. They provide specialized accessibility consulting and training services. Ontario is now enforcing accessibility standards. Learn to create accessible PDF and Word documents.

AccessAbility Advantage is offering two courses to assist with the new standards.  These are as follows:

Introduction to Accessible Word Documents

Training includes:

Introduction to Accessibility Principles

Applying structure using headings, lists, linksMaking images and charts accessible

Text formatting and colour contrast

Creating and using accessible templates

How to check the accessibility of your document

Using accessibility features when exporting to PDF or other format

Understanding accessibility limitations of finished documents

Overview of Tagged Accessible PDF Documents

Training includes:

Review of Accessibility Principles

Understanding the importance of a structured, accessible source document

Understanding Adobe PDF Accessibility tools

Creating a tagged PDF

Adding structure and semantic meaning to the PDF using headings, lists and links

Images and alt-text

Setting a logical reading order

Using Bookmarks

Creating and tagging simple data tables

Setting document properties for document language and title

How to check the accessibility of your document

Understanding accessibility limitations and pitfalls

Course Schedule

All courses run 9:00 to 12:30

Introduction to Accessible Word Documents: March 7, May 14, September 26

Overview of Tagged Accessible PDF Documents: March 28, May 28, October 3

Location: 10 Overlea Boulevard, Toronto

 

Courses are interactive and include supervised exercises that you will perform on your own laptop computer
