I was eventually promoted into a buyer's position in the Purchasing Department, and then into my current position as Manager of Purchasing and Inventory Management.
Personix is a subsidiary of Fiserv, headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We've been in existence now for 7+ years. Our Personix headquarters is located in Stafford, Texas, and we have operations in Indianapolis, Indiana, Shoreview, Minnesota, and Nashville, Tennessee. Our primary focus is on high speed laser print personalization, card manufacturing and embossing for secure and non-secure business, mailing services, complex fulfillment projects, and electronic distribution. Please visit our website at www.personix.com.
Current Professional Duties: My responsibilities involve the procurement activities within our company. We have locations in 3 other states, so I communicate often with my out-of-state peers, reviewing our purchasing processes, implementing special projects, discussing supplier relations and strategies, reviewing contracts, and of course - other duties as assigned.
I also manage a staff of 2 people within my office. Their duties include managing inventory and purchasing goods and services to support our business. I have one terrific buyer, and a super assistant.
There is never a dull moment. I am often involved with special projects such as preparing RFP's, and negotiating agreements. I really enjoy my career and the people that I work with. I love to travel and visit our suppliers, other Personix facilities, and the occasional customer visit.
As for BFMA, I just finished my second term as the Association President. I am the current President Emeritus. My new duties involve coordinating communications with the Past Presidents Council, being an advisor to the Board of Directors, Chairing the Award of Excellence, Jo Warner, and the new BFMA Professional Awards committees, and other duties as assigned.
How Being a CFSP Has Helped My Career: I believe that earning my CFSP has also earned me more respect within my company and with my peers throughout the industry. The people I work with view me as the "resident expert" when it comes to assisting them with solving their issues, or coming up with new solutions. I enjoy educating others to help them do their jobs more efficiently.
Recommendations to Future CFSPs: Learn from each other; get involved with projects that are out of your comfort zone. This is the best way to gain the knowledge and experience to be the best in your field. Don't be afraid of the test. Get involved with study groups. Teach others. You'll learn something in return, I guarantee.
Favorite Movie(s): I'm a romantic. I really enjoy just about any movie with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. I could also watch The American President over and over again.
Passionate About: Grandchildren and family, lighthouses, seahorses and BFMA.
Personal Statement [Personal and/or Professional]: I continue to learn so much from my involvement with BFMA. I also really enjoy my career and the people that I work with on a daily basis. I really strive to learn from everyone I come in contact with. There's so much I don't know and I really want to be the best I can be. I really try hard to install the same philosophy and values in my staff at work, my friends, and my family.
