How I Got Started: My experience as a typesetter at the Butler University newspaper helped me land a job as a Forms Analyst at an insurance company right out of college. I took several LOMA courses and worked primarily with life and health insurance forms. Eventually I was promoted to a supervisory position, which encompassed the forms area, inventory control and the internal printshop.
Current Professional Duties: I now manage the data center print operation and the outbound mail center at Sallie Mae. It is a fast paced, 24 x 6 operation and it keeps me busy. Sallie Mae primarily provides student loans that are originated under the Federal Family Education Loan Program, and we also service and collect on these loans. The company has many offices around the country, and Indianapolis is home to our data center operation. I manage a staff of twenty people involved in print, mail and forms design. Much of my time is devoted to scheduling, budgeting, equipment justifications, migrating new jobs into the center, purchasing and inventory management, and staying abreast of USPS regulations. How Being a CFSP Has Helped My Career: I believe it's helped me gain respect among my peers within the forms industry. Really, though, I wanted the designation for my own personal satisfaction.
Recommendations to Future CFSPs: Just do it! Participating in a study group can be great fun. It does take some time and commitment to participate, but you will learn so much - it is definitely worth the effort! And, the networking with other professionals is so valuable.
Favorite Movie(s): Currently, 50 First Dates. High on my list: It's A Wonderful Life, American Graffiti, An Affair to Remember, Dances with Wolves, and Mrs. Doubtfire.

Personal Statement [Personal and/or Professional]: My involvement in BFMA began with the search for industry knowledge, but it's brought me so much more. The professional contacts, networking and valued friendships are the true benefits of belonging to this organization. I'm so glad that I've been able to have the opportunity to be involved with such a great group of people.
