Help BFMA Help You by Volunteering to Serve
Lisa Lee, CEBS, FLMI
If you’ve contemplated serving the BFMA community at large, let me welcome you with open arms. We encourage people who are active in the forms management profession to step up to the challenge of helping to keep BFMA alive and functioning and contemporary. You may not be aware of the governance cycle for BFMA. (I wasn’t, before I got involved.) The new board of directors is installed at Symposium and terms of office begin then. Now is the time to prepare. We need people to volunteer and take some responsibilities. It is that simple.

Member View: Get Recharged at Symposium
Ah — Symposium, that magical time of year. Yes, it’s true—I look forward to Symposium like a nine year-old looks forward to Christmas. Except, unlike that sugar-addled child, I’m not bored with my toys and jonesing for a candy cane halfway through the blessed event.

Summary of the Tracks
If You Do Forms, You Need to Go to Symposium
Ray Killam, CFSP, CFC
My first Symposium was 1990 in Atlanta. I went there for a specific purpose and was very surprised by what I found. There were hundreds of people that did the same kind of work that I did and they were all involved in advancing their level of knowledge in one aspect or another of forms management. I attended as many classes as I could and it became obvious to me that I needed to keep attending and learning. There was so much going on!

Call for Board Nominations
Margaret Tassin, CFSP, CDC
With most members belonging to regions instead of chapters, developing an affinity for all things BFMA is hard. Most members do not have the opportunity to serve in leadership roles at the chapter level, so finding future BFMA leaders in an existing pipeline is tough. But we need your help, regardless.
Review The Positions Available
Jim Bennett, Madison Chapter
It is with profound sorrow that we report that BFMA lost a loyal member and good friend. Jim Bennett, of the Madison Chapter, passed away on February 14, 2011 suddenly from a heart attack at work.

What is the Forms Professional's Responsibility?
Bill Hill, CFC, CFSP, Chair FSCB
We design forms, electronic and paper. End of article. Wait a minute, that is not my experience. Maybe an easier article would be: What does a forms professional not do?
