Profile: Rune Simard, CFSP
Job Title: President
Company: Bar Code Imaging, Inc.
Stats: Married; two children.
Education: B.A. Philosophy, Seattle University (1969)

How I Got Started: After college, I was a military officer for 5 years with tours in Europe, Vietnam and the United States. I spent an additional 4 years in the US Army Reserves as a Major, instructing the Officer Advanced Course at Fort Lawton, Washington. Forms and paperwork were a requirement in the Service. I have over 25 years experience in the business forms and systems industry. I started with Pioneer Business Forms as a salesman and District Sales Manager for 10 years. Then, I owned my own company, PacWest Information Systems, Inc., for 10 years specializing in the distribution of forms and forms automation systems (electronic forms). The next 5 years saw a series of mergers and acquisitions that enabled me to be an independent consultant designing electronic forms for SAP output. Currently, I'm a Senior Account Executive for Barcodes West in Seattle, focusing on the Wood Products Industry vertical market. We specialize in automated data collection and tracking using barcode label technology.

Current Professional Duties: I'm part of a two member team that is responsible for growing the Wood Products Industry globally for the Brady Corporation. We call on Lumber Mills, Plywood and Veneer Plants, and Engineered Lumber Products all over the United States and Canada, to help them track their products and inventory from the forest to the end user, utilizing barcode technology.

Most Fun Part of Bar Code Imaging: Helping our customers achieve process improvements and cost savings through automated systems using barcode technology.

Favorite Book(s): I'm currently reading "Beyond Reengineering" by Michael Hammer, and just finished "The Reengineering Revolution" by Michael Hammer. Two excellent follow-up books to his original "Reengineering the Corporation" . Process-Centered organizations will be the successful leaders in the new millennium.

Passionate About: Golf, golf and more golf. Also, water skiing, family activities and Caribbean cruises.

Personal Statement [Personal and/or Professional]: "Never compromise your integrity - for anyone or anything. Don't be tempted to take the easy way out. Have the self-discipline to do the right thing rather than the instinctive thing".
