Margaret Tassin, cfsp, cdc

Margaret is a principal in the Forms Training Online series, sponsored by BFMA, along with Ray Killam.  She got into the forms management business via a placement service with a position they didn't understand, saying "You're looking for something different.  Why don't you go find out what this is."  Turned out the position was with a company founded in the 1940s by innovators in forms management, the Ross-Martin Company.  Working there was like going to the Harvard Business School of forms management.  Later Margaret worked in-house for Pennzoil-Quaker State Company for nearly 20 years, managing forms management, records management and warehouse, imaging, in-house printing for repro, checks and data center.  Margaret has also served on the accreditation boards for the Certified Forms Consultant exam and the Certified Form Systems Professional exam.  She currently chairs the Forms Management Education Development Board (FMEDB) to develop the BFMA body of knowledge and certificate program. After a long career working on both the in-house and vendor side of forms management, Margaret Tassin, CFC, CFSP, now runs her own forms management consulting firm.

RaJEsh R. Kandasamy

Rajesh enjoys helping his customers (financial and government agencies) transform and streamline their business around forms and processes, so he can have a quick and gratifying experience when filling those forms and getting things DONE. He has had enough with going to a post office to mail a form, waiting weeks to get a response, or staying on a toll-free line with an automated voiceover that tests patience.

Rajesh holds a masters degree in computer science (New York), and has over 15 years of experience in document/forms, content, and workflow management systems.  He is the first person worldwide, authorized and certified by Adobe to teach AEM Forms (Adobe LiveCycle)

Charlene Haykel

Charlene Haykel is a strategic analyst, editor and writer with 40 years’ experience in corporate, marketing and government communications. She’s always dreaded the drudgery of trying to decipher the forms, notices, letters and disclosures that clog her mail and inbox, from government agencies, banks, brokerage firms, insurance companies, hospitals.
In 1988, she made it her business, literally, to make these documents clear and understandable for the average person. She worked, first, for an international branding firm who pioneered simplified communications. She has subsequently served as a principal of three New York-area specialty agencies and practices, all focused on simplifying complex information.

Dan Johnson

Dan Johnson has spent his career focused on international business and the evolving strategies for solving multilingual communication challenges. In the late 1990’s he joined a Portland, Oregon boutique localization firm, finding his career home in the language & communications sector.

Having specialized in technology & web, content management, change management & training localization, Dan now spends much of his time helping retail banks and mortgage lenders communicate with Limited English Proficiency customers in the US. In today’s highly regulated and increasingly diverse consumer financial market, the ability to communicate with all customers, no matter what time of day, mode of communication or language preference is key to ensuring compliance and growing market share..

Bet Morash

Bet is a self-proclaimed Forms Old-timer but she jokingly prefers what some of her clients call her - “Forms Goddess”.  Starting in the forms industry in May 1971 (for those of you calculating on their fingers right now - that makes it 45+ years), she has held a number of positions in 4 disparate companies. Each position teaching her another invaluable piece of the forms world.  The longest position held is that of Analyst - a total of 35 years - and loving every minute of it (okay... maybe not every minute).
She co-chaired the Canadian Forms Management Standards Committee that published the first Canadian National Standards document.  In 2010, Ron Moorhead, Julie Stephens and Bet accepted the prestigious BFMA Jo Warner Award on behalf of the 42+ member committee of Canadian forms professionals + Ray Killam (Forms Guru).

Since 2006 Rudolf Koffler has been with the Baltimore City Fire and Police Employees’ Retirement System (F&P), in Baltimore, Maryland. In that role he has organized and directed the IT Department. He is F&P’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the HRMS, Benefits, Payroll, Labor, Financial and large systems design and implementation.
Prior to joining F&P, Mr. Koffler held similar positions with Lockheed Martin Information & Technology Services in Baltimore, and with Computex LLC in West Palm Beach, FL.
Rudolf holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology/Computer Science from the University of Baltimore.

Ray Killam Essociates Group, Inc.

Ray Killam is President of Essociates Group Inc., which has provided forms training, consulting, analysis and design services since 2002.  Prior to that, Ray was Vice President eBusiness Development and Vice President Marketing for Corporate Express Document & Print management (now a part of Taylor Corporation), and managed the development of the Odyssey Integrated Services  program (a comprehensive, modular collection of services designed to help companies manage their business processes). Ray has more than four decades of experience in the forms industry as a practitioner in both sales and marketing, and has been actively involved with IADT, the IADT Foundation, BFMA (receiving the Jo Warner Award in 2001), and the BFMA Education Foundation.  Ray is also a member of Xplor International and AIIM.  Ray holds a degree in economics from Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas, an MBA in management from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, and a Graduate Certificate in eCommerce from Creighton University, Omaha, NE.

Leslie peterson,

I never wanted to work in an office! I went to college for a parks and recreation degree. Life happened... and I worked at several companies in office positions, print shops, and finally in the Purchasing mail-room at State Farm®.  I turned down a ‘desk job’ several times. I thought - once I was ‘sitting’ at a desk – I would be for a another forty-some odd years! Office life was pretty good after all. I loved the people and the job. Parks and Rec. would become a place to visit on the weekends. I worked various positions in Inventory and Controls and defined a lead role. After 10 years, I moved to the Forms Design Unit. I could maintain the close ties with Purchasing and the move would be a big step towards a challenging career. Again, after just about every role possible in forms, fast forward  another 15 years... and another change in events. I find myself back in Purchasing in a business analyst role. Forms are still a passion... but I can take the knowledge and share the   importance throughout the industry. Today I serve on the founding Forms Management Education Development Board (FMEDB) to develop the BFMA Body of Knowledge for the certificate program.

Shantelle Boatright, CFSP

Shantelle Boatright, is a Forms Business Analyst with Alberta Health Services in Red Deer, Alberta. She has been actively involved in BFMA since 2007, and has served on the board for 6 years. Prior to coming to the dark side of forms management, Shantelle spent 8 years in project management, and 12 years as a paralegal.

You’ll find Shantelle paddling and portaging northern Canadian lakes in her Clipper canoe in summer, and hitting the cross-country ski trails in winter (tributes to her Viking heritage).  She has also recently become proud puppy parent to a Goldendoodle named “Buddy”.

Jeanne Petty,

Jeanne Petty has been working in PDF related services for over 18 years with both Document Solutions Inc. and Appligent Inc.  Starting in the early days with Adobe Capture, her initial work with PDF was primarily focused on document imaging, OCR and the attempt to move from paper to electronic documents. Today her services work focuses on designing/creating fillable forms, the use of JavaScript to add advanced form features and automate PDF workflows as well as building custom web applications which guide users through data collection and intelligently output completed PDF forms based upon user input.
Jeanne has worked closely with professionals in the legal, publishing and food safety industries as well as government agencies and a variety of small businesses to assist them in leveraging the power of PDF.  She primarily acts as a project manager, but is involved with clients from the early stages of developing a solution, throughout the execution of that solution and provides ongoing technical support.

Mary Hegarty

My interest in color and design started at an early age.  My Dad was the manager of a print room.  But, the printing was cotton, not paper or electronic and the designs were beautiful.  Strolling through fabrics in a department store, he would touch “his” cloth and would tell me about the rollers that were used to place each color through the process and which patterns were the hardest to get right.  As the years past, somehow I ended up in the industry that produced printed documents; and I used to tease him that I was the only one of his six kids who followed him into the family business!
Sure, cloth may be different from paper, but communications are communications and while cloth talks to aesthetics and color, documents and forms talk to clarity, readability and usability. There is still the basic underlining concept of communicating. I have had many mentors in my life, including my Dad, who have helped me keep current on best practices around design, particularly Information Design.  Clear communications is what it is all about!

david wells

After receiving his Juris Doctor with an emphasis in Public Policy, Health Law, and Comparative International Law, David Wells served one of the largest Mental Health and Substance Abuse Not-For-Profit organizations in the Southwest United States.  At this organization, Wells oversaw clinical and administrative compliance and supervised the implementation of paperless initiatives that facilitate electronic peer-review and documentation.  Wells joined the Access team in early 2008, where he specializes in matching the appropriate electronic forms solution to the needs of Access corporate partners and their customers..

Kelly Halseth

We asked Kelly for a bio and she replied that good bios take effort and she’s too lazy to bother. Kelly’s been working in healthcare for 14 years, all of that time in process improvement and forms management.  She’s a farm girl who attended University in Calgary but got her most useful education working behind a bar.  She’s learned not to take herself seriously.   She loves scuba diving, football and single malt scotch. She thinks social media has turned narcissism into a spectator sport.  She dislikes writing bios. Director of Forms Strategy & Management for Alberta Health Services, Kelly leads a team of very talented individuals in support of 125,000 staff, physicians and volunteers and 80,000 forms (and counting).  She holds a BA in English and a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Calgary.
