506 Forms Management Evolution to Records, Information Governance and Beyond

Presenter: Sandra Serkes

Join Sandra Serkes, CEO & President of Valora Technologies, for an in-depth discussion about the crucial intersection between forms and the information they contain, when they meet Records Management and Information Governance initiatives. You will learn:

  • When does a form become an official record? Why?
  • What happens to records over time?
  • What can we do in the creation and management of forms to assist workflow and processes down the line?
  • How do forms join other document types to become systems of record?
  • What is Information Governance and how do forms fit in?
  • Are forms basically information repositories?
  • Introduction to AutoClassification – how does machine learning automatically derive information from forms? Why do organizations need this?
  • What’s the future for forms, information and document management?

606 Accessibility in PDF Forms from Design to Deployment

Presenter: Jeanne Petty

This session will talk about design and tagging strategies for producing 508 compliant forms including rules for design, best practices in fielding forms and how to remediate common problems with the tags output by Word, InDesign and Acrobat. It will also explore the differences between meeting legal requirements for compliance and producing a genuinely useful and accessible product and touch on accessibility in XFA forms.

9:30am – 10:20am

507 Forms as Compliance Controls

Presenter: Dustin Borklund CFC, CCEP

Does your company's Chief Compliance Officer know what you do every day as a Forms Professional to protect the company? This session will give you the tools and insight you need to promote your forms program as a necessary component of a Compliance Management System. The session will also give examples of a few public compliance failures, and we will discuss ways a Forms Professional could have prevented them.

607 Building a Case for Paperless with ROI

Presenter: Jeff Carta

Manually processing paper-based approval requests can take days or weeks and make a dent in your organization's bottom line. Such delays prevent the timely completion of approval processes, preventing your organization from taking advantage of early payment discounts and other savings. There’s a better way: replacing slow and costly manual, paper-based processes with fast, efficient and electronic ones. Learn how to figure an ROI to get to the better way.

10:30am – 11:20pm

508Forms: The “Service Area” of the Customer Journey

Presenter: Mary Hegarty

As a child, journeys meant rides in the family station wagon. That meant a stop at a "rest area,” sitting at a dirty picnic table, soggy sandwiches, no facilities, no directions. With the advent of fast food came the "service center." A place to grab a quick bite, get some directions and go! Your forms processes should provide the same benefits. This session will help you start the journey to making them more like a service center.

608 Making Your Database Work for You

Presenter: Margaret Tassin CFC, CFSP

First, a good forms management database keeps all your information in a way that is organized and easy to use.  Second, it should be able to help you improve your management reporting and get the resources you need to do the work a well-run forms program deserves. You can also use your database to automate some forms management functions. Find out how a database can revolutionize the way your department operates.
