509 Dr. Strongarm: How to Get Others to Stop Worrying and Love the Form

Presenter: Steve Weissman

BFMA’s Body of Knowledge correctly recommends you have relationships with your own management and people in other departments or organizations too. As brilliantly demonstrated in the 1964 movie “Dr. Strangelove,” success here requires addressing the motivations of others — and though failure in forms won’t result in nuclear Armageddon, it will limit your ability to meet your own objectives. So come learn about the broader information context you work in!

609 Beyond Forms Management with Data Merge Applications — there's more than meets the eye

Presenter: Brad Caudell

Forms and data are like butter and popcorn...one's not so great without the other. This class will cover the entire lifecycle of a data-merge form application, from conversion criteria through requirements definition, design, testing and deployment. Topics will also include leading technologies, cloud enablement, and digital delivery options.  Bonus item—how data merge principles can help enhance the Customer Experience (even without forms).

10:00am – 10:50am

510Making the Digital Transformation to Mobile Responsive Forms

Presenter: Angie Okamoto

Have your forms made it to fully responsive HTML5, available on any device, with save and resume capabilities yet? Change is hard, and stakeholders are often resistant to accept dependencies on rapidly changing technologies. Help your team by embracing the challenge and driving the conversations. We will discuss the obstacles and help you learn to navigate them, so you can drive the changes your team needs.

610 Building Forms Solutions, not Forms — Going beyond basic design towards process improvement

Presenter: Bruce Boswell

Forms are for people, not IT systems! In this session, Bruce surveys the ingenious methods and techniques developed by Niall O'Donovan of Assure Dynamics that elevate basic forms into interactive masterpieces. Going beyond the basic definition of what a form is, Bruce will present his own interactive creations to anticipate the needs of users and, as a result, refine and improve the underlying business processes. Samples will be presented using Adobe LiveCycle Designer, but techniques are usable by all.

11:00am – 11:50am

511 The Privacy Imperative

Presenter: Sam Pfeifle

With the rise of the Digital Age, and the concurrent spate of new legislation that addresses it, privacy has become a board-level concern for many businesses around the world. They are engaging in strategic decisions about how being smart about privacy and the handling of personal data can lead to positive impacts on the bottom line. Mr Pfeifle will present data about how organizations are staffing this role, what budgets look like, how they are training both their front-line staff and the enterprise as a whole, and how they are evaluating and mitigating privacy risk.

611 A Deeper Dive in Mobile Forms: sliders, buttons and dohickeys

Presenter: Kelly Halseth

Do the new interactive features on capacitive touchscreens add any value? Do they improve the user experience? Building on the basics covered in Ms Halseth’s first session, A Deeper Dive looks closely at the wide variety of options for buttons, sliders, spinners and other whirlygigs you can add to a mobile form. Learn to see your mobile forms from the user perspective and discover the difference between confounding your users and delighting them.

12:00pm – 12:50pm

512 Campfire: Privacy legislation and the changes to your organization and to forms management

Presenter: Shantelle Boatright CFSP & Sam Pfeifle

Privacy and legislation to enforce privacy are hot topics in the business world.  Sam Pfeifle’s session discussed how organizations are adjusting to this new initiative. How is your organization dealing with this? What kinds of changes have you had to implement within the forms management department in order to comply with privacy requirements? Join us for a frank discussion on these issues and share your successes with other forms professionals.

612 Campfire: The promise of electronic forms — how's that working for you?

Presenters: Margaret Tassin CFC, CFSP, Kelly Halseth & Angie Okamoto

It has been thirty years since the first presentation at BFMA on electronic forms. In that period, a lot has changed. Yet, has the technology promise been fulfilled? Are companies fully committed to electronic forms? What kind of roadblocks to implementation are you experiencing? How have technologies such as HTML, mobile and webforms affected implementation? We’ll visit very briefly about where we thought we were headed thirty years ago and then open up the conversation to where we are now and where we want to be.

1:00pm – 1:50pm

513 What Does Your Client REALLY Need? (Determining customer needs and requirements)

Presenter: Olufunke Somefun

Stakeholder needs and requirements represent the views of stakeholders as they relate to the problem (or opportunity). In this session we will discuss the difference between needs and requirements. We will also discuss ways to identify needs and requirements.

613 Sorting through the options on electronic signatures

Presenter: Ray Killam CFC, CFSP

Signing forms in the electronic world presents specific issues and challenges. There are many different signature solutions available, but each has its own issues to deal with. The challenges are quite different for forms “inside-the-firewall” compared to forms “outside-the-firewall”, where users are anonymous. This class examines the issues, the risks and provides a framework for developing solutions within your organization.

2:00pm – 2:50pm

514 Get a Spark. Take Your Forms to Form-Based Workflows

Presenter: Rajesh R. Kandasamy

What happens after someone fills out your PDF or HTML5 form? Is it still a manual or somewhat manual process beyond the form submission? Your form processing may require multiple human interactions either for review, approval, authorization, or more input. Learn how agencies and companies are improving efficiencies by having an automated back-end form processing. This session will use AEM Forms/Adobe LiveCycle to showcase some common examples. You will see how you can dynamically assign submitted forms to appropriate users, have multiple people participate in parallel, and even extend forms remotely to users in the field with no internet connectivity.

614 Campfire: The promise of electronic signatures — how's that working for you?

Presenters: Ray Killam CFC, CFSP & Dustin Borklund CFC, CCEP

After buying into electronic forms, finding the right method to handle electronic signatures is one of the first decisions to make. Without electronic signatures, your electronic workflow breaks down and it is hard to take advantage of all electronic forms have to offer without them. There are so many options that are available for implementation. Which ones are working for you? What kinds of roadblocks are you experiencing regarding electronic signatures? With an electronic signature method in place, how has this changed your analysis process for new and revised forms? Join us for a frank discussion on these issues and share your successes with other forms professionals.
